Unknowns for the most part, I guess, but one guy wasn't apparently too upset that no one was talking to him. He made the most of it by talking to people as they walked past, just engaging them in conversation, gradually steering that conversation toward his book. I don't know how well it went with others, but my wife came home with a new (and fairly interesting) book for me to read.

So, no, I don't really feel sorry for authors who just sit around waiting for people to come talk to them.
