so i'm flirting with the idea of getting a kindle. i've too many books and the thought of one day moving house with all these books kind of fills me with dread. so the kindle.

do you have one, do you like it? can i get magazine or newspaper subscriptions with it? does it show images or photos if i do get these subscriptions? is it superior to my getting an ipad with ibooks on it? and the main question...why get it with 3g? if i can download books using Whispernet on the 3g-less version, what's the 3g for?

I love it. It's the best investment I've made in recent years. There are magazines and newspapers you can get with it, but I don't use them. I've made several different photo-filled PDFs with a couple different programs and the pictures are great even in black and white. I don't own an iPad so I really can't weigh in on that aspect. I have found that I don't need the 3G service. If you like to download books on a whim then you might like it, but I wouldn't be able to justify it for myself. I can just make notes in my books to remind myself to look for a book later on at home or in a Wi-Fi hotspot somewhere.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

Agreed. DRM is wretched. Go with the nook. *NM* - 28/01/2011 09:14:30 PM 163 Views
