You know, that's a LOT like what I've experienced with it so far!

I loved most of the second book as well. But the first book was something else. I had just read or tried to read several other books that people had raved about and they were nothing but a chore. It was so depressing when I began to wonder if I had somehow lost my love of reading since I wasn't getting what other people had recommended so highly and then I picked this book up and within just a few pages I could tell that this book was going to be special. This book was magic.
I tried reading Gardens of the Moon three times over the past few months, and each time I couldn't get more than 300 or so pages in. I just couldn't get into it. On top of that, the amount of reading I've done (outside of books for class) has dropped sharply. So, having The Name of the Wind resonate like this has been amazing!
Here's to keeping the spirit of Wotmania alive...cheers to RAFO

You can skip a large chunk when he meets Felurian. But once that is almost over he picks up again. *NM*

Well, that's in the second book. And I do agree. Much of it's just the same stuff repeated. *NM*
