Animals kill for food, reasources, competition, territory, reproductive sucess, fear, anger, and pure instinct (sport). These are the same reasons, when you get down to it, that humans kill. The only difference is that humans are expected to know better.

Humans and animals really aren't that different when it comes to our base instincts...the constant portrayal of them as noble creatures who only kill for the most innocent reasons is quite misleading. They kill and destroy things if it benefits them just like we humans do. We just tend to be better at it than them :P
