But I'm an animal lover too and like books like the ones you describe. I can kind of understand what you mean. I have a nasty habit of anthropomorphizing everything. It actually becomes OCD-like and gets in the way of my functioning. I have more empathy for inanimate objects than I do a lot of people, especially children.

One book you might like is Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams.
