What have you read?
Great Expectations, Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol.
Have you heard of any (other) Dickens novels?
Most of them.
Which ones?
Why have you not read them?
Lack of time. I've been meaning to read A Tale of Two Cities since Spock referenced it in The Wrath of Khan
It's been on my to-read list for over 20 years now.
It's been on my to-read list for over 20 years now. What is your perception of Dickens?
An interesting and slightly eccentric character with a fascinating interest in sociology and society for his time. At a time when Britain was at the height of its international power and authority (arguably) he was prepared to look at the nation's problems and foibles and write and talk about them.
Have you seen any film/series versions of Dickens' novels?
Yes. Martin Chuzzlewit, multiple versions of A Christmas Carol (including the Patrick Stewart, Muppets and Blackadder versions), two Great Expectations, Hard Times, The Pickwick Papers, Our Mutual Friend and, of course, the mighty Charles Dance/Gillian Anderson version of Bleak House.
That Bleak House version is really very good.
Pick one word that you connect with Dickens. What is it?
Memorable.
