Of the History Department staff put extra books out in the hallway with a note to take whatever looked interesting. I picked up the Cohen because it was free. I hadn't heard of him at the time. Afterward, I discovered he was responsible for "Bird on a Wire." The collection was surprisingly good and I still have it over 15 years later.
I find all sorts of interesting books at the huge used bookstore/media center I visit in Nashville, McKay's. It's where I get most of my French, Italian, and German books. Found a beautiful two-volume photo/Bible in Swedish last Friday for $5. It's gorgeous to look at, even if I might understand 5-10% of the words
