-The Hunger Games trilogy- ate it all up and thought it was top notch, with the exception of a somewhat rushed ending. I didn't think it was much of a "young adult" book, though, despite the fact that the main character was a young adult. There were some really distressing scenes in that story.

- We Need to Talk About Kevin- I have you to thank for this one. I'm still not sure if Eva was the good guy, the bad guy, or just along for the ride. In some ways, I really identified with her. Again, I thought the ending was rather abrupt- a certain someone seemed to change too quickly for my tastes- but all in all, a great read especially for those of us confused about what drives people towards the whole parenting thing.

- Unwelcome Bodies by Jennifer Pelland- I had been wanting this book for so long and finally got to buy it since I met her at readercon. It was as good as expected. She seems to be a dark person. Her short story collection was disturbing and beautiful.

-Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick- I got this as an ARC and I must say I was impressed. People's obsession with the zombie apocalypse is so weird to me, but in this story it came to life for me in a non-absurd, this shit could really happen sort of way.

- City Without End and Prince of Storms by Kay Kenyon- These are the last two books of the Empire and the Rose series. Science fantasy on a grand scale, and well worth the read.

- The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin- I'm including this mainly for the sexy anti-hero.

- Latest books in the Skolian Empire series by Catherine Asaro- I finished The Ruby Dice, Diamond Star, and Carnelians this year. I feel like the universe is still fascinating, but it's starting to stagnate and I'd love to see the story move forward a little faster. The peace treaty is well and good, but everyone knows it won't last. Soz needs to come back and get the party started again. Kelric is too much like Kurj now, in my opinion. I'd like to see more of the softer side of him again. I still eat these books up so fast though!
