I own and have read all three of them. That's weird that Blade of Tyshalle is expensive. I got it when it was new in trade paperback, probably seven years ago. Maybe it hasn't been reprinted much, which would be a shame. The third one is much more recent, it was published maybe three years ago. The second book is the best in the series so far. The third book is partly a look into the past at an old adventure that made Caine famous, and partly a setup for the fourth book, where things will kick back into gear in the present. But a person really needs to read the second book.

I just looked, and it seems that it really is sort of out of print. You can get a Kindle version for $7 though. Also, if you go to the Canadian Amazon, they have used copies for as low as $2, but I'm not certain what the shipping rules are on used Canadian Amazon books. It might vary per seller.

Damn me for not having a Kindle! I really don't want to leave the world of real books behind, but I'm missing out on all kinds of ARCs and books like this because of it. I'm going to have to bite the bullet, methinks.

I haven't, no. I believe he did a God of War novel as well. He isn't too proud to do sheer genre stuff, but the trick is usually that he does it really, really well. The first Star Wars book of his I read (Traitor) was a revelation.

That's pretty cool. I'll expect that if I ever do pick up the MTG story, I'll enjoy it then.
