About a third of the way in, and enjoying it after the slow start. If anything Flaubert's extremely extensive vocabulary is on even more prominent display than in Madame Bovary, so it's not exactly easy reading, but I do like it better so far. Although so far he seems to have gone from really cynical in Madame Bovary to over-the-top melodramatic romantic here, I'm not quite sure whether to expect some dramatic twist to his tone or not.
