An almost fetishistic degree of masochism. Ghavrel Send a noteboard - 26/10/2016 03:29:25 PM

More seriously, I went to law school for the express purpose of working in indigent defense. I've never been happy with the criminal justice system, which is arguably at its worst here in Louisiana, and there's a surprising amount of opportunity at the office at which I work. The goal is policy work ten or fifteen years down the line, but I deal with enough well-meaning but ignorant "experts" trying to shove the newest fad reform down out throats to realize the value of actually practicing line defense before trying to make substantial changes to the system.

"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."

If Bob Dylan's lyrics count as literature in the eyes of the Nobel committee, why not? - 13/10/2016 05:48:08 PM 792 Views
For a guy who used to be "Dylanfanatic" that sounded a bit disdainful *NM* - 25/10/2016 05:21:28 AM 506 Views
