Granted, my first exposure to her writing was in her Soldier Son Trilogy, and the few reviews I read said it didn't compare to her other work.

I read The Golden Fool, and while I liked it, I wasn't really inclined to pick up any of her other work.

Maybe I just haven't read her really good stuff. If you have better recommendations, please, let me know.
