The books I like the most are the ones where the writer creates...normal people. People with faults and quirks that may do dumb things but still have good hearts. Not the "Mary Janes" that do everything perfectly. That isn't what I want. Just basically good, honest people.
One of the strengths of Feist's characters (especially Arutha) is that they are flawed. But an author also has to make sure that the characters grow, and if their sins are forgiven, as it were, then development is less likely to happen.
