Maybe you should try reading Clan of the Cavebears. There are some nice multiple page descriptions of how she made breakfast.

Cook has great characters and great stories that move along quickly.

Zelanzy is interesting, at least for the first set of books. Not my favorite stories by any means but still decent stories. Could have been worse, I could have suggested the Elric books.

Sanderson I really can't comment on since I have only read his WOT book. I thought he did a decent job with that and people who read epic fantasy tend to like it.

He limited the choice to epic fantasy and then listed damn near every epic fantasy novel I have read. If he hadn't ruled out scifi and other forms of fantasy I would have suggested he read something like Julian Comstock or Thomas Covenant or A Brave New World or The Bad Place or watership Down or…….

I guess I could have suggested Tad Williams but I liked his Other Land books better so I forget about his fantasy. MAybe I should have gone with The Sword of Shanara?
