Although I suppose reading all these in translation will just intensify my desire to learn Russian eventually.

I've read a few on that list and each was outstanding. Wouldn't have the Lukyanenko on that list though, as it's rather poor in quality compared to the others. Like your suggestion of Sedia, though.
