You did read the Prisoner of Azkaban didn't you? I mean it wasn't my favorite book by far, but it did have some important plot development.
Other than that...I agree with the addition of the Horcuxes. It was so sudden adding this huge new element to the plot in the last book.
I am a fan of the series. I started reading it when the first movie came out and didn't expect to like it, but I did. I was completely sucked in.

The Horcruxes left me a bit confused. I thought to myself "Ok, cool concept...you couldn't bring this up 2 books ago?" I have to admit though, that I was genuinely invested in the series towards the last few books.
