For me, I do not want to live in a society where The State is able to deal out compulsory treatment in this way.
That being said, compulsory admittance in hospital and compulsory treatment of psychiatric disease is sometimes used, and should be used also. I'm not against compulsory treatment in principle. But there need to be strict regulations, and I also think that psychiatric professionals should treat this topic with some more humility.
One of the key criteria for compulsory treatment is whether the patient has competance to consent to treatment. In certain psychiatric illnesses, this competancy is compromised. I don't think that is the case with child molestors. Hence, they should not be compulsory treated.
