The A10 is great for killing tanks in an area where you own the skys but the F/A18 is much more versatile and is all weather. If you are pinned down you really don't want to hear your air support is grounded.


The USMC tends to shy away from heavy gear and armor etc. They have some, but only in small quantities.

It would have been interesting if they'd built the night/adverse weather version but a friend of mine who was a loader in the Mass. National Guard told me that their pilots didn't care that much about weather. They're hardcore like that.

Besides the USMC used to use the Harrier which is much more weather sensitive then the A-10. All weather or no, though the Harrier is a very cool plane.
