Texas has always had a heavy Mexican influence but that doesn't mean the differences are minor. I don't object to people coming in and changing the culture. You are right that happens even without illegal immigration and in places like Dallas it comes form both the northern and southern border. In the area I live in a most of the people are from somewhere other Texas and Dallas hardly has a Texas to feel to any more. Hell you don’t even see cowboy hats very often.

I am not anti-Mexican. I have a lot of friends who are Mexican American not to mention a significant number of extended family members including two nieces. I respect their work ethic and sense of family but there does come a point though where you have to say enough already. My brother lives near Houston and in the last forty years his neighborhood has gone from mostly white to where he now the only non Hispanic on his street and one of the few in his neighborhood. My nieces went to a school that was 95% Hispanic. The Dallas school system in the last 40 years has gone from being 57% white 35% black and 8% Hispanic to 8% white 35% black and 57% Hispanic (no those numbers are not exact but they are very close).

There is difference between saying there are so many people form other places here that have changed the feel and saying there are so many people from other places here that they have taken over and become the majority.
