Kim made one of his rare trips outside of North Korea about two weeks ago.

It does seem to have gotten really tense there, not a suprise as sinking a boat is a step up from North Korea - they clearly want something big if they are making that much noise.
China is going to be interesting - while it will protect North Korea, I have to wonder if North Korea sinking a ship is something that China is happy about. I can see a public protection of North Korea while they get slapped about behind closed doors by the China.

This one was to China. Word has it that he left early and in a huff owing to China's increasing interest in how Pyongyang conducts its domestic affairs.
Much of the recent trouble in North Korea centers on a currency revaluation gone horribly wrong. I think the guy in charge of it, at least nominally, was executed earlier this year. Basically, the central government was losing power to and competing against nascent interests brought about by the success of some minor economic reforms launched a few years ago. Kim, the paranoid and greedy bastard that he is, squeezed too hard and too fast.
If anybody invades NK, my money is on the Chinese. And they might even be able to pull it off without firing a shot. Maybe.
南無阿弥陀仏!
Oh, by the way...has anyone noticed how close the Korean peninsula is to war?

If there were a war with North Korea the US has the resources to deal with it.

In a personal sense, we could hijack a nuclear silo and shoot an ICBM at Pyongyang.
