So what if it's stuff other forums do for free. This isn't one of those forums, it's its own thing. And every forum does things differently.
There are some new things that didn't exist on the old place, and I think it's worthwhile.
If you don't want to give money to support the site, then you still get a fully functional, properly usable site that allows you to have discussions/lurk/make posts/whatever as you've been doing since it opened.
If you want to support the site then there's a little inducement for doing so.
