Yeah, it's kind of annoying how knowing how difficult it is to be objective doesn't make it any easier (harder, I think. ) Still, my days of getting all misty-eyed over Obama ended while I was waiting for him to introduce a healthcare bill of his OWN and he was instead giving taxpayer money away to failed megacorps. I don't really have an axe to grind on the mosque itself apart from the fact I consider it a startlingly ill conceived idea. I really have no dog in this fight, apart from the fact that it annoys me when partisan talking heads pervert plain English to advance their agenda at the expense of civil public discourse.

Another option to consider: It's entirely possible we're BOTH right, that Obama was trying to have it both ways and please everyone while committing to none, but made that decision on a subconscious level. Most people would rather be liked than disliked, and politicians are particularly adept at believing their own BS. Sometimes I ALMOST feel bad for them, because sometimes a flip flop is not only sincere, but justified (for most of the first half of the Nineteenth Century the whole country was flip flopping over slavery, and not to curry favor with anyone. )
