In a previous example, you (I think it was you) mentioned that a good nonbelieving man would go to Hell while a murdering believer who asked forgiveness would go to Heaven.
I'm honestly not sure I want to follow a God who would let a murderer walk amongst those he's hurt as if he'd done no harm.
I'm honestly not sure I want to follow a God who would let a murderer walk amongst those he's hurt as if he'd done no harm.
So many people get all shocked and shaken when sin is pointed out. They scream at the top of their lungs that "God is Love". They focus so completely on God's overwhelming love that they don't take into consideration that sin is still sin.
So then with that in mind, and taking into mind what you just said....does God's love only extend to good people? Is not that repentant murderer just as worthy of God's love? Doesn't God love that man too? Everyone is so quick to champion God's love to the exclusion of having to honestly live a holy life...yet when put on the spot, you just said that you wouldn't want to "follow a God who would let a murderer walk amongst those he's hurt as if he'd done no harm."
Where do you draw the line? God's love is awsomely awsome for everyone...except if they've done something really bad? Everyone here at RAFO & wotmania was so hard nose bent on God's love. This was done to the point that conviction of sin was glossed over in favor of "God is love." Well here's a very good test of that, and the results didn't jive with what's been championed.
You asked in an earlier post in this thread about looking at theological attributes and only seeing man...not God. Notice how it was your humanity that limited God just now. You didn't believe that the repentant murderer was worthy of salvation. That was you and your theology...not God's. Notice that God's theology is that every person, no matter what they have done, who honestly repents can be saved. As I said...read the Bible and see what is said. Not what you think is said, but what actually is. Then, don't superceed it with your own thoughts on the matter
