Even the minor ones. Though it wasn't mentioned in the article, I can almost guarantee this girl wasn't suspended for her first dress code infraction. The problem came when she continued her crusade, and refused to accept the school's authority.

Point is, the infraction that got her suspended wasn't "violating the dress code" (minor), it was "willful rebellion against authority" (less minor). Unless the school wants to simply cave anytime a student rebels against a rule, they have to do something about such situations. Schools aren't parents, though, and don't have a lot of disciplinary options available. If a kid won't do what the school tells them to, the only real recourse they have is to kick 'em out. "If you won't listen to us, then don't ask us to teach you."

Makes good sense to me.
