Some Acers are nice, some are not. The are cheap and offer a good bang for your buck compared to an HP or Dell. In my opinion their desktops are better built than Dell, and while their laptops are not as reliable as some other brands they are definitely an innovative company when it comes to laptops with trying out new ideas and form factors.
That said Acer support is horrid (just like Dell) and Acer relies you will go to an Acer authorized repair center where you will get much better customer service than dealing with Acer directly. A good amount of the time unlike the other major oems if you use an Acer repair center they rather pay the repair center to get the person a new laptop/desktop rather than paying for repairs. While this may be good for a customer, it can really piss off the Acer authorized repair center for they make more money repairing a computer and having Acer foot the bill if it is under manufacture warranty vs giving the customer a store credit to get a new laptop/desktop.
HP support on the other hand is one of the highest rated in the industry.
