I suppose it may also be worth mentioning that I've never had a US history course, as I lived in Canada while in gradeschool.

Since Christ was crucified on Good Friday, that meant the Sabbath began at sun down, which meant the same people who demanded the crucifixion turned around a few hours after it was performed and demanded Christ be taken off the cross, because under Mosaic law you can't have an executed man hanging out on the Sabbath, it profanes the holy day.
