Just providing a place to have a Chat isn't going to bring back all the old wotmania Chat regulars though.
I disagree with that. If one were provided, people would flood it in droves. For the first few months, there would probably be too many people.
Even if they aren't on Skype there are just too many different ways they could have the chat experience they desire in every way that matters any time they like. That's what made it so appealing to use Skype and the others as a litmus test, because if there's a real demand it will satisfy itself, find a medium. That that hasn't happened I find very telling. For that matter, I may not have been in wotmania chat back in '02, but I was there a lot the last few years, and so was Chat: Where were the people?
It seems more like Chat died from lack of interest than from lack of a Chat. Anyone who likes is welcome to prove me wrong.

I've already had several days like that. Yet people keep insisting RAFO is better without chat. *NM*

When chat used to be down for long stretches, everyone would just pile into AIM chat.

The group that is popularized as being a part of that is not enticing to long standing wotmaniacs. *NM*

Then that, again, seems a problem that coding can't solve.

I don't think most want to download another program when they had it so easy before.

Honestly, I think the "one time event" is the biggest problem.

I disagree. I don't think enough people think it worth the effort to deal with Skype.

You have a faulty memory. Chat was incredibly active as late as 2007.

I probably didn't phrase that right. Maybe an -er after long and an "in good" before standing.

Also "as long as me" doesn't really factor, because I wasn't using myself to set the bar.
