I have had this discussion with people and the RL and the overwhelming consensus is it is morally wrong to walk away from a debt you have the ability to pay. I even pointed out the interest rate they were was a risk fee. You are paying the bank for the to take the risk that you will not pay them back but it is still seen as wrong to make the bank take the loss.
Is walking away from a mortgage immoral?
