Doesn't seem like it would be that different ßelals Girl Send a noteboard - 17/10/2010 09:34:22 PM
Just an idle thought. Think how different the world would be if jesus had died on, say, an impaling spike (I'm pretty sure the romans never did this, but still) would a single spike become the symbol of christianity? or if jesus had died by beheading, what would happen then? I'm just thinking how different the world would be. what are some other things that could have happened differently in history and their possible ramifications?

Then one of those execution methods would be the symbol of Christianity instead of the cross. I don't really see how that would majorly change anything. It's like saying the entire history of the US would be different if our flag looked different.

It does remind me of one of my religion professors explaining to our class how the cross symbolism back them would be like a modern day person wearing a little electric chair around their neck. Sometimes people do forget just what it represents. But I think the same thing would happen to an impaling spike or beheading ax if it were used instead.
