Talking to his dad obviously isn't working, so the only option is to take the key or change the locks. If he won't do that, tell him to stop whining 

It is his father. Does that seem so easy? I mean, I could do it, but that's because we were raised to tell each other what was up. And btw, he's not whining, we've just discussed it. I can tell it bothers him.
