Palin has towering disapproval rates - mostly among Democrats, obviously, but partially among independents and Republicans, too. I really don't think the Republicans would want to risk losing the general by selecting such a divisive (and, let's face it, incompetent) candidate in the primaries. If Palin is smart, she'll try and influence the matter from the sidelines instead of trying to run and failing.
