I got nothing against diplomacy but in cases like this a lot of people died just to check some futile diplomatic boxes. If Obama had decided two weeks ago that we were going to use military action he should have gone full bore to get as much support as possible then he should have acted with what support he had. How many lives is the UN stamp of approval worth and what else did we have to give up getting it. The French and the Brits have been ready to act for some time. I think as much as anything else Obama just doesn’t want to tied in the public eye to war in case it goes south or loses public support when some Americans die or we drop bombs on a orphanage by mistake.
