Then what is your reasoning for only fixing females
Well if you want to control the population doesn't it make sense to fix both? Why would treating both sexes equally be a radical thing?
No it doesn't make sense to treat them equally. That has been the point I was making. I think putting human politics in animal control is radical.
It seems to me to be a glaring error that any competent biology student should be able to see through. Usually when you see that there other motives at work than those stated. The rational side of me says it is simply for behavior modification and they want to decrease dog attacks and believe neutered males are less likely to bite so they throw it in with population control simply because no one calls them on it. Another possibility is I am under estimating how many partners a bitch can go through and a having few sterilized males in the mix would change nothing. I am willing admit that my knowledge of canine sexuality doesn’t extend much beyond what I seen have going on it backyards. My theory sounds good to me but I am a layman and it is very possible that I missing some key element.
The cynical side of suggest that such programs are run mostly by liberal feminist (lets be honest animal control is not a field that draws conseratives) who do not believe it is fair for the females to forced to be altered and they are treated equally they want them both to be fixed. The truly cynical side of me believes they prefer all males be castrated and had to settle for just the pets. I wouldn't listen to the cynical side if it wasn't for the fact that it is right so often.
