If they're in college, fuck no. But should they be in college in the first place?

There are, of course, athletes who actually have the qualities and the desire to pursue a serious college education, but seems to me they should just do that inbetween their professional sports career - they wouldn't have the time to study full-time to be sure, but then they wouldn't have to. Or after their sports career.
And for all the athletes who do not in fact have much in the way of intellectual ambitions, why should they keep up the pretense? Just let them go straight to the professional leagues and make money by using their sports talents. Not much of a point to having them take up valuable spaces in top universities, as far as I can see, when they only care about the sports anyway.
