If it's rigorous science that proves the existence of the easter bunny, then that means that the easter bunny can coexist with science. There is no cognitive dissonance.

He's assuming that your belief in the non-existance of the Easter Bunny (this belief based not on science but on some other involatile reasons) is stronger than your belief in science. The Easter Bunny absolutely must NOT exist, not for any reason, not in any form, or the entire universe crumbles.

This is a horrible example. The Easter Bunny doesn't even something that might exist, like Santa Clause or angels or demons. It's a symbol, a character, a drawing. Better example would be Santa Claus. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinquishable from magic.
