Heck I posted a whole thread proving state legislators often make bizarre laws, from the weird to the apparently pointless. This is like no whaling in Ohio on Sunday, it does no harm, except it makes a lot more sense. I compared it the 2000, a lot of states passed laws that were aimed at Bush, Massachusetts spent years changing its laws so that if it had been Florida Gore would have been elected, they were arguing about that as recently a couple months ago.
Oh, you're just soapboxing now. You're also distorting things, this is a state legislature passing a reasonable law because there are a lot of obvious reason to pass it. This is so not the big deal you're making it out to be, and you're just coming off hyperpartisan and opportunistic now. What is the big deal? The law harms no one, it makes a fair amount of sense, and it has no fundamental functional change around like the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact that's been signed by strictly blue states for strictly liberal base appeasement purposes.
cities passing non-binding ordinances aside, this is a state legislature passing a law because a fringe group says they can prove a negative. it shouldn't reach that level for such a stupid issue.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
