I thought you handled it rather well. Looking for someone compatible does not make you a snob.

1. Have you ever dated someone who doesn't read?
2. Is reading important enough to you that you wouldn't date someone because they didn't read?
3. Do you think music is fundamental enough to your life that it would factor into who you dated?
4. Have you been on any dates lately?
5. Where would you suggest a book lover find... a lover?

1. If I did, it didn't last long.
2. Yes. It would be a deal breaker. Even if they didn't read what I enjoyed I would want someone that at least understood how I felt about books.
3. Absolutely. Take what I said about books and it applies to music. My husband and I don't have all of the same tastes in music but we understand each other's passion.
4. Just with my husband.
5. I wish you could find somebody here. It seems like it is so hard in the real world to find people that share my tastes. This place seems to have the greatest concentration of people who might actually "get" me.
Also haunting book stores might not be such a bad idea. While I don't go looking for dates, I rarely go shopping for books where I don't get into a conversation with someone that likes what I am looking for.
I am a book snob.

Being picky about books is very different from insisting that there be some books.
