People who are very cold have gone longer periods without oxygen and survived, due to metabolic processes slowing down.

Someone here was brain dead for nearly an hour after falling through the ice not long ago but successfully revived (I can't attest to the level of brain damage, but IIRC it was negligible to none). Until I shake hands with someone thawed out after years of cryogenic freezing though I won't believe it's mere physics alone.
