Laser surgery was the best thing I ever did! aria Send a noteboard - 24/06/2011 01:43:47 PM
And the receptionist is wearing glasses. Somehow I don't think this is good pr.

I am not sure how I feel about laser treatment, and have decided not to explore my feelings on the subject either.

So instead, I'm posting a survey!

1. Do you wear glasses or contacts?

I used to wear glasses. My eyes were so bad I couldn't wear contacts.

Should you?

2. How bad/good is your eye sight?

My eyes were really bad. I was legally blind without my glasses.

3. Would you ever consider getting your eyes lasered?

I already did.

4. Have you had laser surgery? Are you happy with it?

Yep. It was the best thing I ever did. I had my surgery in 2003. When they did it, my eyesight was the worst these doctors had ever tried to correct. They weren't sure it would correct my eyesight all the way or not. Now my eyesight isn't perfect, but I don't need glasses or contacts. After being dependent on glasses for my entire life (I was 20 when I had the surgery), it was so nice to be free of them.

5. Would you be able to survive without glasses or contacts?

Not before the surgery.

6. If you would get laser surgery, what would your reasons be?

My reasons were kind of like yours. I was always terrified of getting into a situation where I didn't have my glasses. If they broke or something I wouldn't be able to see at all. I hated being dependent on them. I might not have considered it if my eyes hadn't been so bad.

All that said. It was the best thing I ever did. After my surgery, I felt so amazing. It really boosted my confidence, which I had never realized was affected by wearing glasses. The best part was going swimming for the first time. I had never been able to see while swimming. It was wonderful.

Also, the surgery is not bad. I didn't use any sedatives and I get really anxious about people messing with my eyes. After the surgery I was sore, but I just went to sleep when I got home and when I got up the next morning my eyes were just a little scratchy and blurry. After a couple days I was good to go. I definitely recommend laser surgery. Good luck!

One of my main reasons for getting surgery is that my eye sight is rather poor. If I ever get into an emergency situation without my glasses or contacts, I'm unlikely to be doing well.
