1. Do you wear glasses or contacts?

I used to wear glasses but then I got my eyes lasered.

Should you?

Well I certainly needed them at the time.

2. How bad/good is your eye sight?

Now it's pretty much excellent, back then I'd need glasses to read a sign or watch TV

3. Would you ever consider getting your eyes lasered?

I did, nearly ten years ago at this stage and it was well worth it just to get rid of the hassle of wearing glasses all the time. My eyesight is still excellent although they said that by about the time you hit 50 you will need reading glasses.

The procedure itself was pretty straight forward, they gave me valium so I was pretty relaxed. Your eye can't focus during the procedure so you just see this blurry light show. I got both eyes done at the same time. I know some people get one done at a time, but I don't see the point of that.


Yup. The Valium totally helped me chill out and handle the nervousness. :D

5. Would you be able to survive without glasses or contacts?

Now yes, then no

6. If you would get laser surgery, what would your reasons be?

I did it just to get rid of the hassle of wearing glasses (and my medical insurance at the time covered the majority of the cost, so it wasn't too expensive)

One of my main reasons for getting surgery is that my eye sight is rather poor. If I ever get into an emergency situation without my glasses or contacts, I'm unlikely to be doing well.

If it's not too expensive I'd say do it.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
