To cite a pop culture figure, Ken Jennings seems pretty rational Isaac Send a noteboard - 06/09/2011 10:09:25 PM
To be blunt, have you ever looked at Mormonism? Native Americans are actually Jews, the Garden of Eden was in Missouri, interracial couples deserve to be stoned, etc.

The guy who attended the Brigham Young and tithed from his winnings can be assumed to pretty religious, and he stomped all over everyone on Jeopardy, a trait I'd normally consider a huge indicator of intelligence and rationality. John S. Lewis also comes to mind, as does Henry Eyring, and Philo Farnsworth - the guy who invented the Television - and Ingebretsen, the guy invented the compact disc. I'm not a huge fan of the LDS but to assume the religion itself somehow impairs one's rationality simply by being a member is not realistic.

While other religions have equally or even more psychotic scripture within, I still wouldn't vote for someone solely on the fact that they have chosen to believe in that religion. Sure, the left does spend a lot of time on religion, but not without cause.

I'm pretty sure the 'cause' for most of the left discussing Mormons of late is a simple and rather despicable desire to rabble rouse right-wing Christians against Mormon candidates, based of their own flawed assumption that anyone on the right who is religious must be a fanatic.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
