I believe I've mentioned my affiliation here before (raised in Catholic schools, bounces between atheist and agnostic depending on how nice a day it is outside. FYI with all this rain on the East Coast I'm pretty sure we're alone in an uncaring universe.)
I enjoy seeing how religions account for apparent inconsistencies or contradictions in their faith. Part of it is schadenfreude, I suppose, but a bigger part is a love for trying to make all the fiddly bits line up with reality.
(Which I think is something I have in common with a lot of fantasy fans- every single person who gets annoyed that the One Power can't make you fly thinks like this)
