How do the typical chore expectations run? It seems that if you were only expected to clean one portion of the home and the other portion were up to him, then at that point it's out of your hands. You ignore the mess in his part and just keep your part clean, and eventually your parents will have to do something (unless they don't mind living in a half-filthy home). If the chores are divided between different areas and different duties, with no overlap, then the situation becomes clear and the responsibility is all his, no more pestering from you needed. That seems much better than, for example, a system where one person does things one day and the other does them another day, in which case you end up cleaning the things he neglects. But I don't know how things work now.
