but alcohol gets pretty expensive and if you're on a low budget, hard alcohol is a very easy thing to cut from the "free for everyone" list. The whole point IS that "host is cheap". Or, rather, that the hosts are trying to have a cheap wedding. Which you may or may not agree with on principle, however, that is what is being discussed at the moment.

If you're having a small reception/whatever, then I think you should provide hard liquor for everyone. However if you're looking at any group consisting of more than 100 people drinking hard liquor, it's going to get really expensive really fast (here at least) unless you buy cheap liquor (imo, worse than making me pay for it!). Even if you have only a few dozen people drinking hard liquor, if they're trashing themselves out it (like many people do at weddings) then they're going to go through a lot of alcohol!

It depends on who you go through. I recently had a list of some 30+ wedding venues that I called. Bar packages averaged starting at about $8 a person for bottom shelf, $12 for mid and about $18 for top. That being said, someplaces had higher. I believe the place we're going with is like $14 for mid and $20 for top. It all depends on who you go through. Further, you're only charged for those who are old enough to drink. Even if you invite a Two hundred people its gonna be more like paying for 150. Thats a close estimation based off my guest list, but I feel like I don't have many younger people coming at all.

Further, many people are happy with beer and wine packages, someplaces include those, some places have them as low as $4 a person. The biggest thing to do when planning even a cheap wedding is to call around a lot of places and visit. Don't just go in your price range. Head out of it a little.

Your mom. That's right. The cat is out of the bag. Your mom.
