and not just anyone, but someone like dan savage with a widely publicized, widely read, wildly popular, sex advice column. the fact that dan savage is an unapologetic democrat shill did not hurt things either. it didn't really hurt santorum's political career, it's only now that he's running for president that anyone outside "savage love"'s readership (or the daily show/colbert report crowd) have even heard the term before.
for the record, my vote for renaming santorum was "farting in someone's face who is giving you a rim job" but of course my vote ended up not counting since "savage love" is run by a dictatorship...
