The jews, and the descendents of holocaust survivors in particular, have every right to be extremely defenseive and protective. They have undergone millenia of persecution culminating in an attempt to utterly exterminate them, in which 6 million were killed. I stand by them and their efforts to protect themselves and their heritage. I will not even try to guess what effects the persecutions and the holocost have left on their collective psyche. Even now there are governments that would like to see them all dead.

That quote is from a mormon leader telling mormons to not be offended, even where offense is intended. It is a favorite of mine and I like to use it to remind myself to not let myself be offended.
