I meant that the act of choosing for someone else nossy Send a noteboard - 29/02/2012 08:54:02 PM
seems really rude and condescending to me. Not that there can be no love involved. I realize the two seem mutually exclusive, but I don't think they are.

As for your subject line, it took me a second to sort out what you meant by that . You can term it how you like. You have phrased it to more strongly bring out the negative implication of someone having been wrong. That is the lens you choose to view it through.

We obviously will have to agree to disagree. I don't love that you question the motives I stated, but then we don't know each other at all so I can't blame you. And I all but stated that I thought you were probably trying to be offended in order to find it really effing rude. So that wasn't fair of me either.

And I'm sorry that my viewpoint is uncomfortable for you. I suppose it has to be, in a disagreement. As I said above, I don't think there is no love involved (pure motive), but I do think it's not your place to make that choice. I appreciate the nice comments, and I apologize if I wasn't careful enough with my statements. I'm sure I could have been nicer about all of it.

As for the zingy quote, it is one of my favorites and I like to remind myself to not get offended when no offense is intended. It probably just sounded condescending quoting it to you. I apologize about that.

It is important to really weigh whether a situation is offensive, but I don't think we can always avoid being offended, or that we should try to. Some things are wrong, and feeling or causing "offense" is what makes us think about our choices. If we believe them firmly enough, we may still wish to do them, regardless.
