In celebration of which, my local newspaper decided to regale its online readers with a slideshow of magazine ads from the '30s, '40s and '50s (or that's what I'd estimate) that are, let's say, an encouraging illustration of how far society has progressed to date. There's a couple that's hilarious (I love number 14), one that seems to be one massive double entendre, and then there are some for which I just have no words. I suppose some of them might be hoaxes, haven't really investigated it... but somehow I'm afraid they're not. Also, is it me or does number 28 really, really undermine its own cause in that second line?
Fair warning: pretty much all of them are offensive one way or another, or indeed many ways at once, and not always in an entertaining way. And no, I have no idea why they're nearly all American, in a Belgian newspaper - I suspect they just borrowed the entire slideshow from somewhere.

Yes, but "socialist American women" are usually the ugly ones that don't shave their armpits.

If the Catholic Church recognizes that exception, they would be well served to say so.

I don't give a flying fuck about the Catholic Church's position on this.
