We like our days off. But in all seriousness, nobody thinks very much of the religious aspects of most holidays.

Well, but it is a non-trivial matter: A purely secular state should not promote any religion, which granting its "holy days" federal sanction undeniably does. That is doubly true for secular states that DO "enshrine" religious equality in federal law. If many holidays of one religion receive federal recognition but all holidays of all others are ignored, that is not very equal, is it? It is government tacitly but firmly endorsing one religion over all others.
In light of the conversation I just had with one your countrymen, about difficulties with Malmös immigrant Muslim enclaves (he brought it up, not I,) I think "non-trivial" a mild description of the issue.
