Otherwise I agree - although if this election proved anything, it's that vulnerable Democratic seats can prove rather harder to reclaim than one might think, if idiots like Akin are allowed to claim the Republican candidacy. If you look at which seats are up for re-election in 2014, it does look as if there are two or three vulnerable Democratic seats and hardly any Republican ones, but the candidates will still have to be the right ones to claim those vulnerable seats.


Two years is a very long time in politics and its sort of the nature of these things to swing against the majority, it's up to the state parties to find and vet and push solid candidates, that's always hit and miss
